A scuba diving tank actually has around 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen, which is rather similar to the air we breathe. The typical recreational scuba diving tank is usually made of aluminum, holding about 80 cubic ft of compressed air. A scuba diving tank usually is two feet high, with a diameter of ½ foot. Normally, scuba diving tanks are filled with at least 2000 psi and at the most 3000 psi of gas pressure. To maintain quality standards, scuba diving tanks are monitored by the US Department of Transportation.

10. As you scuba dive, always check on the tank’s remaining air pressure.
11. Stop scuba diving way beyond the tank’s minimum pressure point.
12. After you dive, remove all the attachments from the tank and store them in a cool area.
